Critter Critiques

Shred-N’ Nest® – Shredded Corn Husk Review

This is another product the folks at Newco Distributors told me about. They gave me a box to try out on my critters. This is 100% air-dried shredded corn husk made by the Bed-o’cobs people to use for nesting material/animal enrichment. I used this product on several cages of mice, both male and female. I did not use it on moms as it is a little dusty. The mice seemed to like it, using it in their nest along with the cardboard tubes/boxes I give for houses that they shred. It seemed a little stiff though for them to really form into a round nest. This comes packed in 2000 cu. in. boxes and goes a long way if you only have a few critters. At $15 a box, however, I’m opting to stick with shredded napkins for nesting material. With as many mice as I have, a box wouldn’t last long.
