Treasure Ball

This toy is quick and easy. It also ranks as one of my critters’ favorites.

Step 1:  Get a sheet of plain white paper, 8½ x 11" is fine.
Step 2:  Place a treat in the middle of the paper. A single piece of dog food, a piece of popcorn, a small cube of fruit, vegetable, or other small treats will work.
Step 3:  Crumple the paper tightly into a ball with the treat at the center. The tighter you crumple it, the more fun the toy will be.
Step 4:  Place the paper ball in your critters’ cage and watch the fun.

Rats will pick up the ball and carry it, push it around, chew on it, play keep away and tug-of-war with it. Even mice will roll it around and chew it up.

For more fun—make up a bunch of balls, some with treats and some without. Watch your critters figure out which contain the treasure.
