Pet Projects

by Karen Robbins

This mix is one you make that includes ingredients that they will eat all of. You can add other items such as healthy dry cereal, pasta, dog biscuits, etc.

Make Your Own Rat Seed/Treat Mix
1 part rolled oats
1 part rolled barley
½ part high-quality dog food (veggie or senior)
¼ part wild bird seed

additional things that can be added:
healthy no/low sugar cereals (shredded wheat, oat types, puffed types)
bits of dried whole wheat/super seeded healthy bread
bits of high-quality dog biscuits (my rats love the Old Mother Hubbard Just Vegg’n dog biscuits or other veggie or peanut butter dog biscuits)

Mix up desired amount (can freeze large quantities to keep bugs out). *
