Critter Critiques

Rat Nail Trimmer

By Valerie Stoldt, Spring Valley, CA

I just wanted to share this recent rat care product found Rat Nail Trimer at BIG LOTS! I think I paid 88¢. It was in the finger nail products section. The package called it a baby or infant nail trimmer or scissors. It looks a lot like cuticle scissors, only with rounded tips.

The wonder of this product is that one of the blades has an open slot in the middle of it about a half inch long where one can slip in the tip of the rat’s nail. The tip of a long nail may be inserted in the slot as it sort of hooks over the blade edge inside of the open slot like it might with a regular scissor blade and one may simply close the scissors slicing off the tip of the nail. It has been working very well in our home.

Always open to thoughts of improving the care of these precious angels. *
